Garik Avagyan

A motivated student pursuing a BS in Data Science at the University of Manitoba. I have a proven experience in data analysis and data mining, as well experience in database management and machine learning.

Database Administration

• Developed relational database models from scratch, taking into account every detail of the collected data such as constraints and other important features.
• Designed fully functioning databases using embedded SQL with Java/Python.
• Efficiently used SQL to create variety of queries, both simple and complex.

Machine Learning

• Developed several ML models for regression, classification and clustering, using both the scikit-learn library and doing it from scratch.
• Created a personal project for a handwritten letter recognition, where the subject was the Armenian alphabet. This project was unique, as there was no available data. Hence the data collection was done entirely by me.

Data Management (Gathering, Analysis, Visualization)

• Demonstrated proficiency in collecting diverse data for a professional research purposes, including sourcing from publicly available datasets and private files.
• Analyzed and visualized data using statistical software such as R and SAS.
• Cleaned up and converted various data to the correct format (in R).
• Used several Data Mining techniques for academical projects.

• Excellent teamwork abilities, gained from both professional and academic environments.
• Physically and mentally prepared for intense work and have no problem with the workload.
