  • Authority to enforce the police act, mental health act, corrections act and the sheriffs act throughout British Columbia.
  • Investigating violent/highrisk offenders that have been released into the public with conditions set by the BC review board.
  • Investigating and locating violent/high risk offenders throughout BC and arresting them on directors warrants for breaches in conditions set by the BC review board and placing them back in the custody of forensics.
  • Investigating assaults/narcotics smuggling within the forensic institution and recommending additional charges to the BC review board post investigations.
  • Investigating with external agencies related to high risk cases through British Columbia related to Forensics offenders. A big case I worked on internally was for an offender who was charged and now convicted by a jury for a murder of a 13 year old girl in Burnaby.
  • Responding to inquiries and highly sensitive complaints from members of the public, as well as all levels of staff and other key stakeholders regarding the forensic offenders with conditional discharges into the community and day passes from the center. A recent example of this was the China Town stabbing in 2023 by one of our offenders on a day pass into the community who stabbed three people at random.
  • Recommend legal action and gather evidence to support additional charges and testify in court regarding officer actions/findings.
  • Provide training and mentorship to new hires during their use of force training and on the job training. Provide leadership and teamwork values to the new officers. Work with senior management to develop training programs for new hires and recommend changes as needed.
  • Support positive relationships between community leaders and general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens.
