During the year and a half teaching at Aranmore Catholic College, I taught English Language classes to refugee students (aged 12-18) in the International Education Centre (IEC). I also taught French classes to Year 8 and Year 11 students.
Duties included:
* Attending Professional Development Sessions on English as an Additional Language Learning.
* Using strategies such as accessing prior knowledge, learning about student culture and allowing opportunities for oral communication.
* Developing lessons for a variety of learning needs and English language proficiency levels.
* Collaborating with other teachers to develop both French and English lessons and assessments.
Duties included teaching general English and Business English classes to adults (international students) as well as specialty programs for high-school aged students.
