Francisco Odair Garcia (Artist name: Odair Gaspar) is a sound artist and composer crafting dark, atmospheric soundscapes that blurs the line between music and cinematic storytelling. Working with Logic Pro and modular synthesis, their work hopes to create a space for listeners that is brooding, suspenseful, and unexpected. WIth a focus on evolving textures and experimental sound design. Odair's aim as an artist is to continually push their music further into the realm of algorithmic and generative composition.
In 2023, I taught myself Logic Pro in an effort to create soundscapes and music. The program became my basis for sound design. After a relative short period of time, I started to use the program to make ambient, atmospheric pieces of music. In time, I reached out to others and collaborated on making a wide-range of genres to expand my own knowledge of composition and structure.
Inspired by the works of my favorite artists who use synthesis, I pushed myself to learn to navigate VCV Rack. I knew there were sounds I couldn't create with just a DAW. I attended local workshops and they pushed me into the direction of VCV rack before curating my own Eurorack system.
I started to learn the ins and outs of modular synthesis through VCV rack, which prepared me to start using hardware. I did exhaustive research on each module to pinpoint which pieces would help me capture my intended sound.
I recently started a beginner's level class to learn how to play the piano. I wanted to take on the piano/keyboard because it was always an instrument I could see myself using in crafting bodies of work. I feel the class will help enhance my knowledge of basic music composition.
