Work History

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

University of British Columbia
Vancouver, British Columbia
01.2024 - Current
  • Engineered chitin, TEMPO CNF, and cellulose nanocrystal bioinks combined with sawdust and metal-organic frameworks for 3D printing; optimized rheological properties, print resolution, and structural stability using crosslinkers (EGDE, glutaraldehyde, ECH).
  • Developed in-situ polymerization protocols for synthetic polymers (e.g., polyaniline, Pdot-PSS) on MOFs; formulated stable, printable inks and resolved flow instability and nozzle clogging issues in advanced additive manufacturing systems.
  • Mentored and supervised 2 PhD students, 1 MSc student, and 2 undergraduate co-op students; led project design, experimental planning, report review, and data analysis.
  • Led the writing and submission of multiple successful research funding proposals, including:

2 awarded Work Learn International Undergraduate Research Awards, supporting undergraduate research training (funded).

1 Idea to Innovation (I2I) grant application, authored and submitted as the principal contributor (under review).

1 ongoing international research grant from the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), developed and coordinated in collaboration with international partners (writing-final stage).

  • Authored and co-authored multiple manuscripts, including 2 research papers, 1 review article, and 1 conference presentation; presented findings at major research conferences.

Lead Consultant

University of British Columbia
Vancouver, British Columbia
07.2024 - Current
  • Led a project to scale up lignin and MOF-based adsorbents for CO₂ capture from lab to industrial scale.
  • Developed a green, water-based synthesis route for UiO-66, eliminating toxic solvents (e.g., DMF) and avoiding high-temperature, high-pressure conditions by operating at ambient conditions.
  • Increased MOF synthesis scale from milligrams to 200 grams per batch, enhancing material availability for application testing.
  • Designed and implemented a kilogram-scale spray-drying system for lignin, improving production throughput and material consistency.
  • Initiated the design of a high-capacity bioprinter to support scalable 3D printing of lignin-based adsorbents.
  • Collaborated with interdisciplinary engineering teams to integrate materials into real-world CO₂ capture systems.
