  • Continuously worked as the Commission’s sole program and policy consultant and one of only two Indigenous staff members.
  • Tasked with overseeing the Indigenous Human Rights Strategy. This includes facilitating and organization members of the Indigenous Advisory Circle.
  • Tasked with community engagement, consultation, and stakeholder connections regarding several portfolios related to human rights issues, including the 2SLGBTQIA+ area and Women/Gender. This includes working to identify connections between human rights issues and where they overlap with ongoing concerns Indigenous rights.
  • Developed workshops, presentations and other engagement/educational materials to help support marginalized community members learn about and advocate for their human rights.
  • Gained extensive experience planning events and MC'ing.

Human Rights Officer

  • Worked on the Intake Team assessing incoming complaints to ensure they fell within the purview of the Human Rights Commission, both legislatively and jurisdictionally.
  • Liaised with complainants regularly as part of regular case work on intake files, as well as during regularly scheduled shifts on the Commission’s public inquiry phone line.
  • Assisted, and at one point co-chaired, the Indigenous Advisory Circle meant to advise the Commission. This included regularly liaising with circle members who attended the circle to represent various Indigenous communities and organizations from all over Alberta and help identify systemic barriers facing Indigenous folks who engage with the Commission.
  • Developed and assisted in the development of internal procedures and best practices following the implementation of a new complaints management structure.
  • Regularly liaised with and worked with the Commission’s Community Engagement and Education section in order to develop workshops and practices to assist both Commission staff and the public seeking services.

  • Worked with youth directly to identify their needs and gaps in services they receive in order to implement projects focused on providing long term positive change.
  • Worked in partnership with the Edmonton Police Service and the City of Edmonton to build community development projects focusing on youth safety. Oversaw project support and ensured deliverables were kept timely and on track.
  • Liaised and coordinated with various community stakeholders, including youth organizations, Government of Alberta staff, City of Edmonton staff, local businesses, and law enforcement to help increase safety in Edmonton communities.
  • Identified safety needs among Edmonton youth through various sources, then worked (either individually or in collaboration) to develop and implement projects meant to reduce crime and increase safety in Edmonton.
