Erin Jamieson

• In this role I was able to develop and teach outdoor school programs, plan and host public events and activities, and present information to local and visiting youth and families. I sought collaboration with other agencies and organizations to expand and enhance educational offerings. Delivering programs and creating meaningful outdoor experiences was a particular highlight.

In this role I maintained and fostered positive and constructive interactions with staff, families, and children ages 1-4. I supported a safe and inclusive classroom environment that fostered respect, empathy, and cultural awareness among students.

• This role involved researching, writing and presenting outdoor education activities and Yukon curriculum-linked programming with a wildlife focus for Kindergarten to Grade 9 Yukon students. In addition, I was responsible for producing digital educational content and the management of summer camps, budget, staff supervision and scheduling.

• Tutoring involved applying the Barton and Wilson Reading methods, teaching decoding skills to students struggling with literacy skills, assisting in student time-management and support, and curating a safe learning environment.

• My duties at this centre included lesson and activity planning, teaching kindergarten readiness skills and providing care, direct physical and emotional support, and guidance for children ranging in age from infancy to ten years. Wherever possible, I incorporated art, nature, and the outdoors into our daily activities.

• My role with Parks Canada involved researching and presenting natural heritage information and programming to visitors of all ages in an engaging, friendly and educational setting. I was also responsible for assisting visitors with outdoor trip planning, backcountry safety and registration, and leading guided hiking excursions.

• My duties included serving customers, handling cash, credit and debit transactions, providing in-depth knowledge of local arts, areas and cultural events, and offering information about our artists and the Yukon in general to visitors.

• I had the privilege of teaching grade four in the mornings at École McIsaac School, and the afternoon Kindergarten program at Ruth Betts Community School. This split in ages and settings allowed me to develop a stronger understanding of developmental stages and learning needs, and to consider the interplay between systemic circumstances, school ecosystems, and the student/community experience.

• My duties involved activity planning, caring for children, leading games and crafts, and providing direct individual support to a child with alternate needs related to neurodivergence.

• My duties included testing fire-fighting equipment, managing inventory, testing helicopter fuel, loading and unloading helicopters, active firefighting using water-packs and Mark II pumps, fitness training, and meal preparation for large groups in remote settings.

• This role included planting spruce and pine seedlings in deforested areas, as well as spacing, staking, careful plotting and time-management. It was an outdoor, all-weather, highly physical role.
