  • Performing highly at Wawasum Energy it was a prerogative to maintain and ensure that jobs were planned and prepared to maximize a profitable income
  • As the foreman it was my objective to organize with MB hydro and other facilities such as oil companies to perform work and schedule any outages that may be necessary to execute our work
  • Among the many responsibilities as the foreman, it was my duty to organize the crew daily, bringing forth the plan for the days’ work
  • Worked closely with Quality Control personnel to resolve any issues found during inspections.
  • During our morning meeting we would discuss any particulars and get feedback from the crew to purpose the best and safest plan possible
  • Other duties included pre-planning the weeks schedule
  • Once jobs were completed, it was of utmost importance to document and record all the day’s work for further review by Wawasum and MB Hydro; this reassured that the job was completed properly, with zero deficiencies.
  • Accurately recorded and reported all operations and maintained communication with other workers.

Power Line Technician – Journeyman

Hundseth Power Line

  • Company Overview: Hundseth Power Line contracts primarily deal with overhead distribution projects, including but not limited to rubber glove hot work
  • Hot work included changing over three phase and single-phase poles
  • Other developments included changing over single-phase taps, corner poles, dead ends, double dead ends etc
  • Followed Saskatchewan rules, regulations and work procedures
  • Before every job, hazards were assessed and outlined
  • Once the assessment was complete, we either eliminated the hazards or if the hazards could not be eliminated, they were minimized to ensure workers safety
  • Gained backhoe experience, digging trenches, or pulling poles
  • Correspondingly gained hands on knowledge operating Nodwell flextrac machines
  • Became more skillful operating Digger Derricks, digging holes, and setting poles within live three phase lines when necessary

Power Line Technician - Fourth Year

  • Worked on both Overhead distribution projects and Transmission projects
  • Built various distribution projects, including double circuit lines, corner poles and dead ends double dead ends, angle structures etc
  • Transmission stringing operations were conducted
  • Building slug sites, and rider poles was necessary for this operation
  • Was responsible for hanging insulators either from a bucket, or via ladders hung from the wings of towers
  • The use of man lifts and cranes were used to achieve this task
  • Responsible for grounding the line, hanging sag boards, and sagging conductor
  • Once final sag was achieved, we then proceeded to clip in the wire
  • Dead ending was also another duty
  • Operated zoom booms, delivering steel to various tower assembly crews.
  • Loading/unloading trailers was also required
  • Worked on tower erection crews, erecting towers with cranes
  • Was also responsible for dead end structures to be assembled in sections, working at heights greater than 120 feet

Power Line Technician - Fourth Year Lead hand

  • Company Overview: Constructed rural underground distribution and overhead distribution systems, sub-contracted from Atco
  • Duties included splicing and terminating cables and additionally testing and operating of power equipment
  • Maintained a high level of expertise and knowledge working with and training apprentices regarding job applications, site quality and safety
  • Ensured that jobs were completed in the allotted time frame and to the standards expected from Atco representatives
  • Assisted and coordinated with the foreman and supervisors managing crew activities and tasks
  • Conducted daily tailgate discussions prior to any work activities
  • Also managed all tasks related to the crew in the absence of the foreman or supervisor
  • Installed three phase transformer banks, as well as single phase transformers
  • Some actions included paralleling transformers
  • Constructed rural underground distribution and overhead distribution systems, sub-contracted from Atco
