I have been blessed to always come first in my class since Primary School. In 1995 I was awarded a highly prestigious U.N.E.S.C.O Merit as the Best Student of my School, and in 1998 I was awarded the “Papyrus” of Laureate as the winner in the National Best Young Scientist Competitive Examinations. As an undergraduate I came first in my class, with first class honours in Medicine and Surgery. As a Ph.D. Student, I received a highly prestigious Manchester School of Medicine Strategic Award for Excellence. As a Clinical Trainee, I received the highly prestigious United Kingdom “National Institute for Health Research (NIHR)” Academic Clinical Fellowship, the NIHR Academic Clinical Lectureship as well as the Chadburn Lectureship at St George's, University of London. As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, I received the highly competitive Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. I have won the 2017 American College of Cardiology (ACC) Best Poster Award at the scientific annual ACC Meeting in Washington, USA.
