Accomplished Dance Teacher with a proven track record at the City of Brampton, University of Guelph and various volunteer positions, specializing in jazz, hip-hop, and acro. Excelled in choreographing engaging routines, enhancing students' skills, and fostering teamwork. Known for exceptional relationship-building and clear communication, adept at creating a supportive and fun learning environment.
I have choreographed routines for myself and/or others for many different events, such as:
Taught a fun class for adults and teens that consisted of a stretch / core-building warm up, skills session and a fun choreographed routine of different genres.
Taught fun recreational classes in jazz and hiphop for University of Guelph students. Classes consisted of warm ups, skills training and a fun routine.
Worked with several other dance teachers to lead / assist dance classes in jazz, tap and acro, to teach dance skills for different levels and prepare kids for dance recital. Ran classes with warm-ups, skills training, and choreographed unique routines tailored to the class' abilities and style. I completed report cards, worked with seamstresses to create costumes, and guided kids through rehearsals, recitals & competitions. I taught kids from age 2 to adult and beginners to advanced levels.
Was voted "Dance Assistant of the Year" in 1996 by my peers at the City of Brampton
I also have a degree in Environmental Engineering through the University of Guelph (graduated in 2003) and have 21 years experience as an engineer. I work as a Senior Water Resources Engineer for AECOM, and have been there for 19 years.
I am also a mom of two girls who have been dancing at the City of Brampton for years. Dance is a big part of our lives and we do fun routines together all the time. As a mom I have gained invaluable experience with children and have learned a lot about the necessity of patience, common mental health struggles for kids, stages of development, and how all kids are so different and so awesome in their own unique way.
