As an Eligibility Technician (ET) with the County of Orange, I provided excellent customer service without bias to clients seeking assistance. I was responsible to conduct in-depth interviews while simultaneously entering reported information from applicants into the Social Service Agency’s CalSAWS System. As an Intake Worker, my role was to determine client initial Cal Fresh and Medi-Cal eligibility benefits in accordance with State/Federal/County regulations and established policies and procedures. I utilized the CalSAWS System to enter client information and ensure accurate eligibility for the Cal Fresh and Medi-Cal programs. I also utilized the Medi-Cal Eligibility Database System (MEDS) to search for client information including but not limited to client vitals, current and past eligibility information, client aid codes, verify Other Health Care (OHC) program eligibility, verify client's income by running the Income Eligibility and Verification System (IEVS), print temporary Medi-Cal Benefit Identification (BIC) Cards, verify applicants can go to the doctor by utilizing the MEDS Online Provider Inquiry (MOPI) screen, view companion cases, and newborn information. I also assisted in troubleshooting MEDS alerts that were created due to a discrepancy between the information in CalSAWS and MEDS. I utilized the CalHEERs (Covered California) System website to pull client applications and verifications to apply for client eligibility. I made CalHEERS referrals for clients that do not qualify for Medi-Cal benefits. I imaged all documents into the county database on the CalSAWS system. I ensured that any unaddressed discrepancies are corrected and processed to apply accurate case eligibility within CalHEERS, MEDS, and CalSAWS. I ensured to follow the departments No Wrong Door Policy and refer applicants to any other programs and assistance they may be eligible for by providing contact information, follow-up calls, emails, or provide them with flyers regarding their inquiries. As part of the Outstation Unit, I traveled daily to and from different locations including homeless shelters and jails to serve our most needy clients that normally do not have the means to make it to SSA Regions alone. I always maintained a respectful and professional demeanor with clients and other County employees and partnering agencies. I was entrusted with maintaining client’s confidentiality of all information and documents that are considered personal and sensitive in nature.
