Work History

Clerk 5

Marine Transportation Services
07.2024 - Current
  • Utilize strong multitasking skills to manage multiple priorities and tasks, ensuring timely completion of each assignment.
  • Categorize and document inventory to ensure accurate records.
  • Provide quality clerical support through data entry, document management, email correspondence, and overseeing operation of office equipment.

Finance Officer

Marine Transportation Services
11.2020 - 05.2023
  • Successfully managed and coded invoice flow in excess of $20m CAD a year
  • By coding the invoices I was able to determine what projects and jobs the invoices belonged to, allowing the company to better track its expenses
  • Helped transition the company from paper to digital archiving through the use of NavXtender
  • This sped-up the process of auditing, reduced storage space required, and aided in providing quick historical references for current projects
  • Adjusted the vendor ledger to accurately depict the current financial standings
  • This ensured that the accounts were accurate
  • I achieved this through creating calculations within excel that listed the invoices in question and the total cost owed to the vendors
  • Ensured invoices were paid efficiently and on time by developing a method that batched invoices according to date and urgency of payment
  • By batching the invoices accordingly we were able to prioritize critical payments
  • Was responsible for communicating with different departments within the company to gain information and insights about company spending
  • This was crucial to ensure the accuracy of the financial statements and prevent unnecessary spending.

IOT Summer Student

Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC)
05.2019 - 08.2019
  • Updated the company's active directory to ensure that employee personal information was accurate and available
  • This made interdepartmental communication easier
  • Organized the department storage rooms and itemized inventory for ease of location
  • This reduced the amount of time staff spent looking for the items they required
  • The organization I implemented in the storage room made it easier to identify which critical items were low on stock, allowing for timely resupply
  • Worked as part of a team within IT finance and policy on a remediation case resulting in the return of ~$50k CAD to NTPC
  • During the case I networked with colleagues from various sites across the Northwest Territories to gather information on property tenancy
  • With this information, along with data I collected from further communication with the tenant, I was able to update our records and charge them accordingly.

Summer Student

NWT Centennial Library
05.2017 - 08.2017
  • Organized library events such as muffins on the lawn, used book sales, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police hot dog barbeque
  • These events were put on for the community to introduce people to the library
  • Showcasing the library's resources in this way helped to create a positive relationship with the local community
  • The events I organized resulted in more patrons visiting the library
  • Created a program for the summer reading club which included picking out books and creating a corresponding craft activity
  • I tailored the activity to the ability of the audience, for example for the older age groups I would switch the activity to an experiment.
