Participates in the planning and coordination of the ECLS program as well as development and maintenance of ECLS clinical standards.
Coordinates ECLS education for clinical perfusionists, ECLS specialists, non ECLS specialists, and allied health (RT's, physiotherapists, CT techs, Cath lab techs) which include high fidelity simulations and wet labs.
Participates in quality improvement/quality assurance initiatives and actively promotes ECLS program performance and competency measures to improve services.
Organizes interdisciplinary review of ECLS cases to develop individualized treatment plans, ensuring optimal patient care.
Organizes debriefs for ECMO initiations and end of life transitions.
Works with Biomedical engineering department and Perfusion Lead to maintain ECLS platforms and supplies.
Participates on intra and inter-hospital committees and provincial working groups by providing input, recommendations, and promoting the goals and objectives of the program.
