GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY: Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, the Addiction Crisis Worker is responsible for the physical well-being of the clients and the environment of the non-medical detoxification unit. Key responsibilities include admitting and assessing individuals suffering from substance abuse, safely managing withdrawal, and providing support, service planning, and stabilization; performing all routine duties in maintaining a residential program.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Screens prospective clients, admitting those who meet admission criteria, and referring others to the most appropriate services.
Assesses the need for medical attention or psychiatric intervention, and completes the referral.
Establishes and documents clients' general condition upon admission. Closely monitor clients' condition and behavior during the observation period.
Safely manages aggressive clients and/or clients in crisis. Applies training in NCI and CPR as needed.
Maintains a daily record of clients’ progress by documenting in individual files and the daily logbook.
Interviews clients, utilizes the client service plan to establish client needs, and develops a client-centered action plan.
Provides ongoing, nonjudgmental support and encouragement. Treat all clients with respect and dignity.
Provides education about addiction and recovery, utilizing videos, one-on-one, or group discussion.
Provides access to self-help groups and makes referrals to appropriate external services.
Prepares clients for discharge. Performs relevant functions of file closure and return of possessions.
Ensures that the hygienic level of cleanliness is maintained at the center outside the normal regular working hours of the cleaner.
Is prepared to respond to emergency situations (i.e., fire, disaster).
