I am a hard worker with lots of ambition, and I am looking for a chance to apply myself; to gain experience, develop skills, and apply my knowledge, to further my future in this field.
My name is Jade Weiss, I am currently a first-year student at Lakeland College; specifically majoring in Wildlife and Fisheries Conservation. I entered this course because of my lifelong passion and infatuation with nature, wildlife and the conservation opportunities in this fulfilling field. I'm passionate about all environmental sciences and am open to any opportunities to work in different environmental fields. I'm an 18 year old girl from Tomahawk, Alberta. I grew up on a large-scale farm, with experience working with cattle, horses, and our families grain operation. Being raised on a farm gave me the morals that have built my strong work ethic, and have given me confidence in different environments, working solo as well as cooperating in groups. I have my own vehicle and have had my class five drivers license for two years. I am confident in my driving capabilities including experience in ATVs, side-by-sides, as well as part of my college courses I am trained in operating drones. As of my second semester, my college courses have included: Field Botany Plant Taxonomy, Ecology Field Biology, Scientific Writing, Environmental Mapping, Wildlife, Soil Science, Limnology, Inorganic Chemistry, Managing Rangeland, and Statistics. These courses have grown my knowledge in the field and helped me develop skills identifying plant species, taking samples of plant species and soils, wildlife identification, and given me practice in scientific research and writing in the field. I am a hard worker with lots of ambition, and I am looking for a chance to apply myself; to gain experience, develop skills, and apply my knowledge, to further my future in this field.
