I am a small animal veterinarian with over 20 years of experience. I am interested in transitioning from a clinical veterinary setting to a teaching/mentoring position. I have experience in both rural/urban, feline specialty, lab animal, hospice, and emergency/referral settings. I have years of experience mentoring both veterinary assistants, technicians and recently graduated veterinarians. I have helped veterinary technicians prepare for the VTNE and have taught both DVM and VT students in the clinical setting. Most recently I have been responsible for the oversight of all veterinary students from OVC or abroad in our hospital preparing both teaching plans and completing assessments at the end of rotations.
I am very interested in joining what I believe to be an exciting new program at Fanshawe that is desperately needed and will provide a local, high quality educational program in the veterinary field.
I also have previous experience working at the University of Western Ontario 1998-2004 in the department of animal care and veterinary services working in both animal husbandry and as a veterinary technician with research animals including rodents, pigs, sheep, chickens, primates
In the past 3 years I have undertaken training in improvisational comedy and am currently a member of the MMU improvisational comedy troupe here in London. With this group I have performed shows for high school students in the Thames Valley School Board, open shows for local residents, and am scheduled to perform for Masters students and their families at the IVEY School of Business, Western University and at the London Comedy Festival in November 2024. I believe my outgoing nature, ability to think/adapt quickly, and sense of humour are a benefit in a teaching role.
