Empowering communities and fostering resilience, I have spent most of my career working with disadvantaged and diverse groups within our city. Through innovative programming and client-centered support, I delivered care that was culturally attuned to the clients I serve. My passion and educational background has allowed me to work closely with youth who are either at risk or currently involved within the criminal justice system, and who would normally refuse support for most support services.
Part of the NET (Neighborhood Empowerment Team) initiative that works in collaboration with agencies, stakeholders, youth, and communities to address crime and disorder. Through a community development and trauma-informed lens, I empower active participants in creating unique, sustainable and positive community change whilst striving to engage with youth and bring their voice to the table regarding community safety issues.
Striving to decrease ethno-cultural, newcomer, refugee, and immigrant students' vulnerabilities and increase strengths and resiliency by addressing mental health concerns, fostering community connections, and creating natural safety nets by individualized support and connected youth to their culture and identity.
