I worked in rural communities, First Nation reserves and tertiary centers.


I worked independently often as the only RN in rural communities. I also worked in Emergency and ICU in larger centers.

I worked as a travel RN for 15 years. I worked in both rural and major tertiary centres in rural BC as well as large tertiary centres.


I worked Emergency and ICU departments. I was able to hold a position with a Health Authority. Because o shift scheduling have enough time to travel nurse.

I worked on a contract basis in all 3 of Canada's Northern Territories. I als worked as a Flight RN in both the NWT and Yukon Territories.


I also worked in Northern Manitoba on large First Nation reserves.


My duties were in First Nations Communities with no Physician in the communities.


My duties in these communities was everything from Emergency to delivering babies to public health.


In addition I also did contract work for The Canadian Coast. Guard. I worked as the Ship's Health Officer on both the CCGS Laurier and CCGS Hudson. The Laurier is an ice breaker that leaves from Victoria BC harbour and sails up Canada's inside passage and through the Northwest Passage ensuring the barge that delivers food and dry good to the Inuit communities does not get iced in.


The CCGS Hudson sails from Dartmouth N.S. on science research missions. The missions last 6 weeks and end up in Thule Greenland.

Additional Information

In summary my long and varied Nursing career allowed me so many wonderful opportunities. I have worked and lived in First Nation Communities in expanded practice. I have worked on large Emergency and ICU units as well as had the opportunity to work as a Flight Nurse and work on two Canadian Coast Guard ships. I have been from sea to sea to sea with my Nursing Career.


I also worked at the Remand Centre in Edmonton in 2000 in a casual position.


I retired from Nursing last year after over 30 years.


I am 67 years old, a female. I am in very good physical health with no medical history. I stay active biking, hiking and kayaking.


I would like to be considered for the casual position of casual on-call Guard at the detachment in Fort Macleod.

I am very flexible and can respond to a call on short notice.


With my background I would be a great fit for ensuring the well being of prisoners.
