My job in Ambulatory Surgery is primarily in the pre-op area. I do float to PRE and POST GI, and I work in an RHC Charge Nurse role every week. My duties change depending on my role for the day, but do include intake assessments, medication reconciliation, drawing lab work, starting intravenous lines, obtaining accurate consents, EKG, education for the patients and their families, and reporting significant findings to the Anesthesia team and/or Surgical staff. As Charge Nurse, I coordinate the workflow between Ambulatory Surgery, OR, PACU, IR, Radiology, and the Cardiac Cath Lab. I work closely with my managers to problem-solve issues on the unit.
