Deven Pence

Dedicated and highly motivated pre-medical candidate with a strong academic background and hands-on experience in multiple clinical settings, including both orthopedics and dermatology. Possess excellent interpersonal and time-management skills, coupled with a deep commitment to providing quality whole patient care from the first visit, before a diagnosis. Passionate about breaking down barriers and normalizing women's health for all ages as an important aspect of primary care.

• Recruited participants, collected data, and supported researchers in measuring recovery outcomes as a research assistant in “Cold Water Immersion on Recovery and Performance” (2025) at UCLA, which was submitted to the AMSSM 25th annual meeting.
• Worked and participated as a research volunteer in Dr. Dolezal's Airways and UC Fit Exercise Physiology Research Laboratory at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

• Served as Ambassador for the UCLA chapter of CHAARG (Changing Health, Attitudes, and Actions to Recreate Girls) where I acted as liaison to the national office, led weekly board meetings, oversaw logistics, and served as the face of our chapter at recruitment events.
• Also served as Event Coordinator for the UCLA chapter of CHAARG, where I planned weekly workouts at local studios, building partnerships through outreach and cold-calling.
• Served as Facilities Management Director for the Beta Xi chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta. I managed lease execution and licensing for 58 beds and served as liaison to the fraternity housing corporation to coordinate payments, maintenance, and property upkeep.

As an avid reader, I enjoy exploring both nonfiction and medical titles, using books as a window into another perspective. I also enjoy staying active through "sporty" activities like pickleball, flag football, and beach volleyball. Finally, I love scrapbooking as a creative outlet and the practice of yoga as a mental one, seeking stillness, silence, and reflection outside of my busy life.
