Volunteering at St. Anthony’s in San Francisco was an incredibly rewarding experience that left a lasting impression on me. Serving food to the homeless allowed me to connect with people from all walks of life and reminded me of the importance of compassion, dignity, and community. The atmosphere in the dining hall was warm and welcoming, and I was inspired by the gratitude and resilience of the guests as well as the dedication of the staff and other volunteers. Working together to provide a basic need like a hot meal made me realize how small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference in someone’s day. It was a humbling experience that strengthened my commitment to giving back and staying involved in my community.
I am currently a senior in high school, and a cheerleader at San Luis Obispo High School. I plan on attending a 4 year college after I graduate. Cheerleading all four years of high school has taught me teamwork, discipline, and school spirit. Supporting my teammates and performing at games helped me stay positive and motivated through challenges. As a senior, joining the Black Student Union Club has helped me grow as a leader and learn the importance of community and advocacy. These experiences have shaped me into a confident and driven person ready for new challenges after graduation.
