Quality Inspector- Level 2 \ Quality Assurance

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To conduct required measurements and visual inspections on all first offs, and castings requiring secondary operations, to verify castings meet customer and Dyancast specifications/drawings, and maintain up-to-date and accurate monitoring activity records.
    • Access the part specification QA production file, customer drawing, and production inspection plan to verify visual and/or measurement activities required, complete all identified characteristics, and accurately record data on the master checklist;
    • Receive first offs, complete required measurements and visual inspections, sign off part acceptance, distribute documentation to the appropriate tapping station, and retain a copy of documentation in the QA file;
    • Sign off the set up sheet to initiate production start up for parts determined to meet specifications, retain/store first off samples and parts specification file;
    • Complete a corrective action ticket for any non-conforming parts, provide required documentation to the appropriate production station, and ensure the part specification file is retained in the appropriate QA slot;
    • Repeat first off inspection activities until part is determined to meet required specifications, retain/store first off samples and part specification file;
    • Complete required SPC activities, input data, visually interpret charts to ensure the parts meet required capability requirements, and initiate required corrective actions ticket(s) to the appropriate production station for implementation;
    • Monitor the status and results of corrective actions, recheck part dimensions for previously non-conforming parts, re-interpret sample data, and determine part compliance with required specifications, prior to sign off, and file all documentation.
    • End of run inspections will be assigned on an as needed basis.
    • Ensures all inspection equipment is calibrated during floor audits and available.
    • Conduct a minimum of two (2) patrol audits per shift.
    • Update the DDS Boards for the top 5 quality issues per day.
  • To complete patrols, Line Inspector duties, and other miscellaneous activities to maintain internal controls and integrate quality into all manufacturing phases, to ensure parts produced consistently meet or exceed customer and Company specifications.
    • Complete visual inspection and approve all parts meeting specifications, remove non-conforming parts, initiate a corrective action ticket to the respective production station, and verify conformity of parts having corrective actions, prior to approval and release for completion of part routing/distribution;
    • Visually inspect parts at various production stations/departments at specified frequencies, to regularly monitor quality, maintain up-to-date records of activities, and keep other Inspectors informed of activities completed each shift;
    • Communicate with Toolroom personnel to resolve quality problems as required;
    • Assist in the ‘on the job’ orientation of any new Inspectors and/or apprentices as required;

    To perform roving Patrol audits, continuous circling of machines in operation. Using the part specific work instruction located at machine, perform visual and/or attribute measurement activities required and accurately record data on the PIP, if necessary.
    • Complete visual inspection and approve all parts meeting specifications, remove non-conforming parts, initiate a corrective action ticket to the respective production station, and verify conformity of parts having corrective actions, prior to approval and release for completion of part routing/distribution;
    • Visually inspect parts at various production stations/departments at specified frequencies, to regularly monitor quality, maintain up-to-date records of activities, and keep other Inspectors informed of activities completed each shift;
    • In addition to verifying part quality/correctness, verify paperwork is complete, ensure operation at machine matches work instructions, lot cards are accurate, correct material is being used, etc. (General information, not meant to be inclusive of all requirements);
