Currently in nursing school second year last semester. Had clinical experience two placement and want to develop more patient care skill through clinical external during summer.
While working at the Renal service rehab, I provided various forms of assistance to the patients. This included monitoring their vital signs, conducting physical assessments, and aiding them with meals. Additionally, I assessed their ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs), provided wound care, trach care, and administered G-tube feedings. It was also part of my responsibility to ensure the accurate administration of medications and maintain detailed records of the same. I assisted patients with their exercise routines and helped them move to other units for appointments. I strived to provide the best care possible, ensuring that the patients were comfortable and safe at all times.
During my time at the Neuro rehab unit, I had the opportunity to gain valuable clinical experience. While working alongside the nurse, I closely observed and assisted in providing care for the clients. In doing so, I developed skills in assessing clients, monitoring their labs and vital signs, and providing comfort care. Additionally, I was responsible for administering medications to aid in their recovery. This included ensuring proper dosages, monitoring for any side effects, and accurately documenting the administration. I also assisted with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and grooming. Furthermore, I assisted with wound care and exercises to help clients regain strength and mobility. Overall, this experience allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the daily responsibilities involved in providing quality care to patients in a rehabilitation setting.
