I am a Passionate Teacher with experience developing and implementing diverse curriculums covering a wide range of subjects. • Music Therapy Intern, Toronto, ON, 2010 - 2011, Worked in a hospital setting with an array of clients residing in: Apotex nursing home, Complex Continuing Care and Palliative Care Unit. Co-led Music Therapy sessions with fellow interns for a group of residents with behavioural and reality orientation issues. Individual work with clients in Complex Continuing Care and Palliative Care units along with varying stages of Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
• Music Therapy Student, Windsor, ON, 2010 - 2009, Provided community-based music therapy for residents living in social assistance. Worked with clients with schizophrenia, depression and emotional difficulty. Collaborated with Nursing and social work students. Total Time Duration: 32 hours.
• Music Therapy Student, Windsor, ON, 2009, Provided bedside music therapy for patients with respiratory difficulty, CVA, patients in recovery and those with physical pain (Arthritis). Worked closely with nursing staff to measure the effects of relaxation music therapy on heart rate and blood pressure (measuring their pulse and blood pressure before and after relaxing personalized music selections). Gained experience working within the context of a referral system through having charge nurse lead therapist to patients most in need of socialization and company. • Music Therapy Student, Windsor, ON, 2009, Provided individualized, dyadic and group music therapy for young children given provisional diagnosis of Autism and collaborated with the program director to individualize each child’s progress. Worked with behaviour therapists to acquire the application of positive reinforcement and its integration into individual and group sessions. Total Time Duration: 31.5 hours.
• Music Therapy Student, Windsor, ON, 2008, Provided bedside music therapy for geriatric residents in Complex Continuing Care. Independently led on floor group sessions with Alzheimer and Dementia Residents with a focus on facilitating opportunities for musical and social expression from each client. Acquired knowledge on how to integrate Snoezelen equipment into the practice of music therapy, implement effective musical and social reinforcement in the context of music therapy through coaching from on-site supervisor. • Volunteer, University of Windsor, 01/2011, Mentored 4th year music therapy practicum students about the internship experience, music therapy resources, and how to develop a personal music therapy philosophy as well as subscribe to a model. Guided students through the music therapy internship application and interview process, shared important CAMT and Library resources.
• Volunteer, Toronto, ON, 04/2010, Assist residents and out-patients complete client satisfaction surveys on the quality of care they were receiving from Hospital Physicians and staff.
• Archivist, Windsor, ON, 01/2007 - 12/2009, Videotaped student conferences and assist in publicizing student's presentations and activities. Actively participated in raising funds for the University of Windsor’s Music Therapy Satellite Centre. Assisted the Music Therapy Student Association (MTSA) to arrange guest speakers for the 2009 Student Conference.
• Environmental Conservation Charity Concert, Toronto, ON, 05/2007 - 08/2007, Organized and performed in a charity benefit concert. Donated proceeds to Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS).
• Volunteer, University of Windsor, 2005, WRRAP Award (Windsor Residence Recognition Award Program). Earned the WRRAP Award. Raised funds to help University of Windsor music students who lost their home and belongings in a house fire.
