Moved RVHS (the continuation high school) to the Quarter System to assist students in earning more credits each year needed for graduation.
Raised the graduation rate 6% after implementation of the Quarter system.
Successfully led all three schools through the WASC process yielding a 6-year accreditation status with no required follow-up visit.
Earned State recognition in 24-25 for RVHS as a "Model Continuation High School" awarded to only 74 of the 429 continuation high schools Statewide.
Went out during the Pandemic to find EL students who were not connecting remotely. Advocated and started an EL Hub at a local high school and elementary school so that English Learners could come in to learn "in person" each day.
Successfully integrated the Mandarin-speaking community into District ELAC committee meetings and (during the Pandemic) had simultaneous Zoom translation in English, Spanish and Mandarin. Zoomed DELAC meetings had more participants than ever before in the history of our district.
Started a Newcomer Academy for students learning English to help them improve their academic English and to adjust academically and socially to school in the US.
Led the math department to a 5 point gain in math CAASPP scores.
Supported a positive school culture by implementing behavior and reward assemblies for students.
Advocated for and helped to initiate the AAPAC (African American Parent Advisory Committee) at our school.
Implemented the new State Common Core curriculum in ELA and Math. Invited other small school districts to Julian to collaboratively "unpack" the standards and discuss lesson plans and common assessments using the new standards.
Moved the school to an API over 800 for the first time ever.
Worked with the school board and community to pass a bond to rebuild an entire wing of the high school that had sat condemned for over a decade. The 10 classroom building was built and opened in 2014.
Implemented consistent NWEA common assessments across all grade levels (K-6) leading to higher STAR exam scores and API. Result: a more data-driven teaching and learning environment at the school.
Improved the steps to identify students needing assistance through the SST and IEP process.
Helped to adjust the culture of the school to accept and welcome the growing number of non-English speaking students enrolling at our site.
