As Lead Environmental Support Specialist, I am responsible for ensuring compliance in the areas of providing guidance, developing policies, leading projects, monitoring performance, preparing reports, developing compliance mechanisms, communication, training and developing guidelines. I provide guidance, feedback, reviews and direction to ensure areas of assignment are within compliance. I ensure adherence to federal, state and local environmental regulations, including the National Environmental Policy Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Clean Water Act and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act are followed during each aspect of work duties. I oversee environmental assessments, audits and inspections to identity compliance gaps and develop corrective action plans to mitigate environmental risk. I collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to promote environmental stewardship and sustainable practices within DOD operations. I provide technical guidance and training to staff and leadership on environmental regulations, policies, procedures to enhance awareness and compliance. I served as a member of the emerging contaminants program specifically Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) a Head Quarters Department of the Army (HQDA). As a team member I was specifically tasked with building, coordination, effectiveness and material for risk communication to over 150 personnel from junior enlisted to Senior Executive Servicemembers. I developed training material used by the Army across all bases for PFAS issues. I attended workshops and meeting providing insight to congressmembers about the Environmental Protection Agency regulations. Proved insight on studies about PFAS in drinking water issues that have occurred and recommended alternatives to ensure contaminated areas are not affected. Drafted policy changes to existing policies that no longer complied with newly released Environmental Protection Agency regulations. Traveled to various Army bases to ensure training programs events to provide oversight to personal presenting training lectures. Developed PFAS toolkit to help ensure most up to date regulations and policies are being understood for compliance.
