Crime Scene Management: Attend and assist in securing, managing, and protecting secured crime scenes.
Property and Evidence: Collect and ensure the proper documentation, protection, and storage of property identified as evidence.
Canvassing and Information Gathering: Assist in neighbourhood canvassing for information and searching for evidence or missing persons.
Traffic Management: Close and clear roadways and direct traffic to ensure the safety of workers, the public, and the orderly movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
Emergency Response: Take control in non-critical emergency situations or at crime scenes.
Prisoner Transportation: Transport persons in custody (prisoners) to and from various secure locations, including detention centres, police divisions, hospitals, etc.
Custody Security: Maintain the safety and security of persons in custody, staff, and members of the public during transportation and while persons are awaiting treatment at a medical or psychiatric facility.
Management of Persons in Crisis: Demonstrate the ability to deal effectively with persons in crisis and manage hostile or dangerous behavior with maturity and self-control.
Report Taking and Documentation: Respond to public inquiries at the front desk of a police station, take information on divisional activity from the public, and prepare accurate reports.
Parking and By-law Enforcement: Enforce parking by-laws by issuing tags and arranging for vehicles to be towed when required.
Community Engagement: Provide information to the community through activities, actions, and compassion. (I.e working events with NCO’s)
Direct Supervision: Supervise a diverse group of youth (12-17 at the time of the offence) in a secure custody/detention setting on an assigned, rotating shift.
Security and Safety: Ensure the immediate safety and security of all youth, staff, visitors, and the youth centre facility through continuous monitoring and rule enforcement.
Searches and Contraband: Conduct regular and systematic searches to prevent the introduction and proliferation of contraband items.
Internal and External Escorts: Provide secure escort and supervision for youth during movement within the facility.
Program Delivery: Support, deliver, and facilitate structured rehabilitative programs and reintegration services.
Life Skills and Coaching: Provide coaching and mentorship to youth to teach new social and life skills and encourage better decision-making upon their return to the community.
De-escalation: Effectively and safely de-escalate conflicts, volatile situations, and unpredictable youth behaviour using trained verbal and non-verbal intervention techniques.
Crisis Management: Respond promptly and effectively to crises, including major incidents, self-harming behaviours, and mental health emergencies.
Detailed Reporting: Produce comprehensive, detailed, and accurate written reports (e.g., logbooks, incident reports, observation reports) to document youth behaviour, progress, and all security/safety-related incidents.
Life Skills Coaching and Empowerment: Equip youth and young adults with practical life skills (e.g., financial literacy, job search techniques, budgeting, cooking, hygiene) and provide academic coaching to promote school success and self-sufficiency.
Relationship Building and Stability Promotion: Work collaboratively with Foster Parents and clinical teams to establish stable, caring relationships, helping to promote stability in the foster home and contributing to the overall well-being of the youth.
Pro-Social Engagement and Self-Worth: Facilitate meaningful community engagement and coach pro-social skills to help youth increase their levels of self-worth and build a positive, lasting support system.
