2006-2009 - Auxiliary RCMP
During my time with the RCMP I was partnered with various members to service the community. I was responsible to help gather information, dealing with public complaints, ensuring community's safety, enforcing law. I gained valuable skills in communication with people of all ages and walks of life. I was able to help in situations where victim services was some time away and a victim was in need. Learning to be compassionate yet professional in my role with the RCMP was the best skill i learned and have been able to carry that with me.
2007-2009 Youth RCMP group - The Stetsons and Spurs
I worked with an RCMP member helping youth understand concepts of the RCMP, Teaching new principles each week. We had many students go on to become regular RCMP members.
I have curled for 32 years, over this time I have had many failures which I like to call opportunities. Each opportunity I have endured fed the hunger to get better and explore the areas I was falling short. While competitors were focusing on what they were excelling at, I was dissecting my game and looking for the extra inch. Curling has taught me that the only way to get better at anything is to constantly learn, grow and most importantly implement. In 2007 I stepped out of the box to find something to take my game to the next level, I started coaching! Each person or country I have coached since has taught me something unique about life, leadership, communication, and sport.
In the past 5 years I have found joy through the lens of a Canon camera. It has changed the way I look at the most mundane things. Reminding myself that no matter what you are looking at or how bad something seems there is always a way to find joy.
