• Working in a shop and/or field environment, constructing, inspecting, diagnosing, repairing and servicing various equipment used in the Department's fleet. This Fleet consists of equipment including but not limited to, digital message boards, generators, cars, trucks, heavy equipment, street sweepers, personal hoists, cranes, snow plows and snow blowers.
• Complete and maintain up to date training with various tooling and equipment to diagnose and repair such systems as engine diagnostics, automotive HVAC, 12v lighting and actuators, low voltage data systems, transmissions and various hydraulic systems. Cut and weld metal structures and parts in the fabrication or repairs of various equipment or implements.
• Complete various records and reports, using computer equipment for various tasks. Occasionally instructed or give direction to helpers, apprentices or other employees. Maintained and implicate safety equipment and proper procedures throughout the workspace both in a shop and field setting. Maintain up to date safety records, safeguards, proper use and handling of materials, tools and equipment throughout facilities and worksites at all times including personal protective equipment (PPE). Occasionally work in inclement weather, which may include severe cold or heat.

Under the direction of journeyman Heavy Equipment Mechanic, assisted in the inspections, maintenance and repairs a fleet vehicles and equipment used in construction and repairs of california highway system.

• Studied and completed academics pertaining to various shop safety practices, tooling, diagnostics and theories of operations of various systems including but not limited to automotive Air Conditioning, air brake systems, fluid dynamics, and engine diagnostics.
• Maintain a 80% GPA under the Apprenticeship Program, Completing subject test every month for a 36 month period.
• Obtain additional licenses and certifications including ASE Cert for Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling, Bureau of Automotive Repair Class A Brake Adjuster's License and Bureau of Automotive Repair Lamp Adjuster's License.

• Installed low voltage systems including security, fire alarms, and data communications.
• Conducted troubleshooting and repairs on various low voltage equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
• Collaborated with team members to develop effective wiring layouts for installations and upgrades.
• Trained junior technicians on best practices for system installation and maintenance protocols.
• Mounted panels for motion detectors, keypads and controls.
• Installed and serviced various security, fire alarm and closed circuit TV systems for both residential and business clientele.
