• Meet qualifications and perform duties required of Addiction Counselor including: knowledge of disease of addictions, mental health, gambling and related issues and the effects on the individual, family and community; file and case management; understanding of the Developmental Model of Recovery, the Clinical Principles for Alcohol and Drug Misuse Services in Saskatchewan, the Motivational Assessment Process, knowledge of the Recovery-oriented System of Care Model; Knowledge of Health Authority services and resources
• Provide services to family members impacted by another person’s concurrent disorders with the understanding and perspective that the family is the primary client
• Complete assessment of addictions and/or mental health related issues with regards to impact of another’s substance use and/or mental health on clients and determine appropriate recovery plans and referrals
• Utilize PCOMS with individuals and groups to ensure client-centered services and support positive outcomes
• Provide individual and group services in-person, virtually and via telephone to individuals and multiple family members at a time
• Ongoing assessment of mental health and/or substance use of clients and facilitate referrals for appropriate service as required

• Ongoing research and development of current and evidence based psycho-educational groups to specifically address the unique and complex needs of family members affected by another person’s concurrent disorders
• Implement/facilitate psycho-educational groups; providing education, skill building and coping strategies to clients to support the complicated needs of their family members as well as themselves
• Provide safeTALK training to clients
• Work productively both independently and as part of multi-disciplinary team
• Provided community presentations to public, community based organizations, and SHA programs
• Support supervision of practicum students
• Support clinical/professional orientation of new counselors, introducing them to the organization’s environment, process and protocols

• In 2025 I advanced to a senior level position with this team; additional duties include staff supervision and training, scheduling, file auditing, team leadership.

Youth Resource Center

• · Community Case Manager for youth. Responsibilities included: administering assessments, referrals, program and treatment planning and follow up planning for substance affected youth. Worked with a variety of community professionals and agencies as a liaison and advocate for clients, as well as community involvement representing Mental Health and Addiction Services providing education and presentations to other agencies and organizations. Provided support services to parents of substance affected youth both individually and in psycho-educational groups. Acted as temporary supervisor providing direction and clinical support to a team of Case Managers and worked on policy development and implementation.

• Calder Centre, Saskatoon Health Region
• Worked as a Case Manager as well as other positions in the rotation. Responsibilities included; building therapeutic relationships with clients, one-to-one counseling, group counseling, treatment planning, psycho-educational workshop planning and implementation, consultation and collaboration with family and various other professionals, diffusing crisis situations, assisting clients in after-care plans, providing intake/admission services to new clients, administering and scoring various holistic clinical assessments (including the ASIST), clinical documentation, working effectively and collaboratively as a team member in a fast paced environment
