Work History

Aquatics Trainer

Golfland Sunsplash Roseville
Roseville, CA
11.2024 - Current
  • Continued development as an instructor by becoming increasingly confident & became capable of teaching even larger lifeguard class sizes
  • Became proficient with Microsoft Excel while logging a plethora of waterpark paperwork including lifeguard rescue reports, analyzing supervisor zone sheets/related paperwork, and ensuring that each supervisor performs their required job duties at the required level
  • Learned how to properly navigate through data in Synology Drive for the aforementioned paperwork
  • Constantly audited lifeguard performance via VAT (Visual Audit Training) system. Retraining sessions were often conducted for individuals who failed an audit. Patience & understanding was required to push these individuals to be better & more confident in themselves
  • Audited supervisors via an in-depth process to evaluate job performance. Encouragement/acknowledgement of strengths were emphasized as much as constructive criticism regarding areas of improvement
  • Actively being involved in promotion talks regarding lifeguards, supervisors, and potential instructor candidates while observing their growth and character over the course of an often strenuous season
  • Became even better at helping to promote a positive work environment for around 300 lifeguards and 30 supervisors
  • Acted as a major source of inspiration & encouragement for new lifeguards, supervisors, instructors, & even fellow trainers. This was amplified even more than as an instructor. It is something I never wish to take for granted

Aquatics Instructor

Golfland Sunsplash Roseville
Roseville, CA
11.2023 - 11.2024
  • Earned an Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Instructor License to help teach the ILTP (International Lifeguard Training Program) to classes of new and returning lifeguards (and supervisors). Class sizes varied between 30-60 students, spanning from April to late July
  • Developed increased adaptability to ensure maximum group participation in learning skills such as BLS despite larger group sizes, spacing constraints (ie small room or pool), and limited equipment including backboards and lifeguard rescue tubes
  • Imparted experience as a lifeguard to help promote beneficial practices and habits to assist new lifeguards in their skills development
  • Became a source of inspiration and support for newly promoted aquatics supervisors as they learned the previously mentioned tasks and job duties
  • Continued development of supervisor skills and the aforementioned job duties. Instructors supervise the same lifeguards they helped train and teach their ILTP skills after training classes end in July
  • Assisting with offseason duties when needed

Aquatics Supervisor

Golfland Sunsplash Roseville
Roseville, CA
02.2022 - 11.2023
  • Responsible for entire zones of lifeguards on a daily basis. Tracked lifeguard lunch times, rotations, and monitored ability to scan water, dispatch slides, and properly interact with guests
  • Maintained composure and a calm tone when dealing with situations such as an emergency or a slide shutting off with a long line of guests
  • Became adaptable to situations such as shifting rotations, inclement weather, and emergencies that take time away from normal job duties
  • Ensured proper maintenance of and accounted for daily equipment such as tablets, radios, and emergency medical equipment (ie medical bags and backboards)
  • Set clear boundaries with friends who were in superior positions (ie trainers and assistant managers), and knew when to keep friendship separate from productivity and job duties
  • Learned radio etiquette and how to properly/effectively communicate during potential emergency situations
  • Ensured the assigned section of the waterpark was correctly opened or closed during every shift
  • Further developed ability to communicate with guests and address their needs/concerns
  • Managed and redirected the energy of strong lifeguard personalities to be better versions of themselves

Aquatics Lifeguard

Golfland Sunsplash Roseville
