The Cooperative Restraining Order Clinic (CROC) helps domestic violence survivors in San Francisco/Bay Area obtain restraining orders against their abusers.

The Case Manager/Legal Assistant:

  • Serves as primary point of contact for CROC’s Spanish speaking clients, answering phone calls; completing intakes with prospective clients over phone and in person; triaging clients to appropriate attorney.
  • Interpreting for CROC’s attorneys in interviews.
  • Providing crisis intervention, criminal legal system orientation, court support, resource and referral counseling.
  • Assisting clients to complete court documents, preparing clients for hearings, handling client inquiries regarding their cases and traveling to and from court to file and retrieve court documents.
  • Developed strong rapport with clients through attentive listening skills and empathetic understanding of their situations.
  • Managed scheduling needs for multiple attorneys to ensure optimal time allocation for cases and appointments.

  • The W.O.M.A.N., Inc. 24-hour support line offers support to survivors of Domestic Violence through peer counseling, safety planning, and referrals for resources. The support line is used as a safe space for survivors to openly share details of their lives including the abuse they survive.  A lot of the time the survivor just needs someone to listen without judging, to help them better understand their experience, and to validate their feelings and choices. On this support line we also connect with family and friends of survivors. Seeing someone close to you experiencing a scary situation is hard and a lot of the time survivor’s loved ones don’t know what to do or how to best support the survivor in their life. As peer counselors, our role is to provide support to them.
