The University Health Network nursing resource team is part of the staffing resource center within the Hospital. Registered Practical Nurses within the Nursing Resources Team are trained to cover all Medicine and Surgical Inpatient Units. Members of the Nursing Resource Team have the opportunity to be trained in specialty areas when needed. As a member of the nursing resource team my daily responsibilities as a registered practical nurse on a unit are as follows:

• Organize and prioritize patient care assignments within the RPN scope of practice collaboratively with RNs and other members of the interprofessional team
• Identify when care needs of patients and family have changed and require a broader scope of knowledge, skill and judgment
• Ability to plan and provide patient education to support discharge planning
• Participate in clinical discussions, team meetings, and patient/family discussions
