- Maintain confidentiality relating to resident information while providing compassionate and empathetic care
- Extensive union knowledge and knowledge of Collective Agreement
- Documentation of resident's ADLs through Point Click Care and DOS charting
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology
- Working with a multi-disciplinary team
- Assist residents with daily living needs to maintain self-esteem and general wellness
- Provide safe mobility support to help residents move around personal and public spaces
- Knowledge of hoyer lift and stand-up-lifts
- Consult with supervisors/management to assess cases and plan strategies for enhancing care
- Train and orient work of new personal support workers
- Engage residents in meaningful conversation, socialization and activity while providing personal care assistance
- Assist with feeding and monitoring intake to help residents achieve nutritional objectives
- Maintained frequent supervision of residents unable to call for assistance
Skills required to complete tasks;
- Responsibility, compassion, confidentiality, documenting and reporting resident care and behaviours, understanding of dementia and geriatric cognitive and physical illnesses and support needed to comfortably and respectfully aide residents in LTC setting
