Respite Care Provider

Kerrie Secor (foster parent)
Prince George, BC
10.2022 - Current
  • I provide care for a 1 year old, 3 year old, 4 year old, and 6 year old. they are all foster kids and I work with them.
  • The 3 year old boy has a condition called Tubular Sclerosis
  • Tubular Sclerosis causes seizures. These seizures usually occur when this child’s temperature is high. When he gets a seizure my job is to administer medication rectally into him when this happens. As well as I need to call 911 immediately because his seizures usually occur more than 5 minutes usually.
  • The 2 year old child requires medications 3x daily. When I take care of him my responsibility is to give his medication at the proper time.
  • In July 2023 I was the primary respite care provider for the 4 and 6 year old. My job was to give them the medication they were taking 2 times a day.
  • It was my job to drive them, feed them, and be their care provider while the foster parents were away. These kids taught me a lot about being a mom and how to handle kids with Behavioral problems, PTSD, and ACEs.
  • This job has taught me to have proper time management, and to be responsible for multiple children that have high needs.
  • These kids are very well taken care of and I am happy to be apart of their lives by making them healthy and happy.
