Tasks

Provide a safe environment for the youth and staff. De-escalate situations as they arise. Provide one-on-one support to youth who are stressing, dealing with peer issues, addiction concerns, grieving while incarcerated, or youth that need help adjusting. Provided in center referrals. Do appropriate paperwork when needed, and case notes. Run programs, or assist with in-center programs.

Life choice coordinator. Three-year secondment.

During this time, I provided the youth one-on-one support, both off the unit and on the unit. Facilitated numerous programs, including addictions, moral support, communication skills, grieving, healthy sexuality, healthy relationships with peers, family, and the community, art, healthy physical outlets, strong communication with unit staff and in-center and community referrals. Brought in numerous community stakeholders who could support the youth in the center and who could continue in the community.

Administration

Provide clients with information, appointments, and referrals when needed. Offer clients encouragement and support as they start the process of treatment. Assist doctors, nurses, and counselors as needed. Continue to support the community stakeholders.

Clinical technician.

Assist clients with urine samples, and case note the results. Encourage clients with their negative or positive samples. Keep healthy communication with community stakeholders.
