Registered Nurse- Pre-Op, OR, and Post Op Nurse (February 2022 - December 2022, January 2024 - current)

Per Diem (December 2022- Present)

Pre-Operative Nurse:

  • Taking extensive medical history
  • Assessing neurological status
  • Ensuring consent is correct and signed with full knowledge of procedure being performed
  • Providing patient education regarding procedure and post operative care
  • Starting IV’s for all patients
  • Glucose testing for all diabetics pre procedure

OR Nurse:

  • Confirming consent is signed and that it is the right patient and procedure, any drug allergies, and if sedation will be given
  • Ensuring sterile technique is met while setting up physicians OR tray
  • Initiating Time Out in OR with physician prior to procedure starting
  • Monitoring patients vital signs every 5 minutes
  • Administering sedation drugs and Atropine, if needed, as ordered by physician
  • Assisting physician with drawing up medications needed for procedure
  • Reporting complete handoff to PACU nurse including patient name, DOB, allergies, procedure performed, medication given and patient current status

Post-Operative Nurse:

  • Monitoring patients vital signs as well as evaluating pain control
  • Implementing physician post operative orders regarding administration of IV and PO medications
  • Assessing patients post operative neuro status including mental status, motor and sensory function, reflexes, and strength
  • Discharging patients to family member with review of post operative instructions


MILLS-PENINSULA MEDICAL CENTER

Staff II Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Oncology (December 2022 - December 2023)

  • Experience with managing patients diagnosis with chronic kidney disease, diabetes, renal failure, liver failure, GI bleed, cancer, sepsis, COPD, pneumonia, CHF, etc.
