Oversee management of surgery center with operating and special procedures rooms. Responsible for building surgical volume and development of processes and procedures. Hiring and training staff to perform proper techniques, care standards, operational procedures and safety protocols.

Acted as relief charge nurse and frequently relied upon to be a resource and orient new staff. Performed admissions and discharges for patients having same day surgery. Ensured patients were ready physically and emotionally for surgery, checking to be sure that all necessary paperwork was in order, obtaining a detailed history and list of current problems and medications. Educated patient and family members on patient care instructions. Started IVs and made sure patients were clean and ready for surgery. Medication infusions for outpatient infusion area, floated to radiology for interventional procedures, special procedures (GI) and urology clinic.

I was a nursing supervisor, where my focus was management of the nursing and aide staff, and coordinating care for new admissions. Worked with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, therapy and social workers. Provided IV therapy, wound care, pain management and diabetic management. Confidently directed overall operation of nursing services and patient care and organized department in accordance with administrative guidelines in order to provide specified nursing services to meet legal, organizational and medical staff guidelines.
