- Ensure the work station was set-up and ready to go
- (Plug and turn on machines - ensuring there are/have been no start up issues)
- Ensure the working materials in question are of working condition prior to initiating production
- Assist the other members of the department if required; use the fork lift to get materials (ingots/cages, etc.), ensure the workers are comfortable in regards to knowledge of the task at hand (train/remind them how to run the job)
- Fill out daily production forms
- Ensure the product is meeting company standard
- Pour liquid metal (zinc/aluminum) into a mold to produce a part
- Allow the part time to cool down before cutting off the gates/risers
- Constantly ensure the materials in the furnace are kept up to the required volume and ensure both the material and molds are at running temperature for quality
- Store the parts away for another department or box them up for shipping
- Grinding and Drilling of certain product when required
- Operate Sandcore molds and machines when required
- Drain furnaces at the end of the week
