in silico kinase binding site exploration
-This project sets out to understand how a small molecule upregulates kinase activity of several kinases including PAK1 and BMX1. Previous literature suggests the mode of activation of PAK1 to be the release of an autoinhibitory domain and the autophosphorylation of the active loop (Thr423). With the use of docking software, I am able to find theoretical docking positions that perturb the interaction of the kinase domain with the autoinhibitory domain, leading to the subsequent phosphorylation and kinase activation.
