Summer Engineering Intern
During my time as a Summer Engineering Intern at the Hawaii Department of Transportation. I reviewed documents regarding budgets, analyzed the airport's layout and how it affected a traveler's experience. Through this internship, I was also part of a team that competed against other intern groups throughout the DOT, where we would present our final project in front of the DOT's president. Our project involved redesigning and finding ways to make Terminal C in Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, not only safer but also more welcoming to those who visit Hawaii and will walk through the terminal as they enter Hawaii's most talked about island, Oahu. Through this internship, I also learned how to be part of a team, as well as what it means to put the team's goals above personal goals, and how my work and effort don't just affect my reputation but can affect my team's reputation. Therefore, not putting all my effort into the project wasn't an option; it was my job being part of the team to put in all my effort.
