Carter MacQueen

During the full time eight week placement, I worked in various departments of the Hamilton Police Service. I performed caretaking duties like cleaning, moving and assembling furniture and gym equipment. I also assisted in the set up and preparation of the physical tests done by hopeful police officer candidates. I had the opportunity to shadow and explore diverse aspects of the Service like K-9, Marine and other specialized units.

While stationed at Glanbrook Arena, I was responsible for patrolling Open Skates and assisting with maintaining cleanliness of the facility including changerooms, washrooms and mezzanine room. I assisted with flooding the ice surface by moving nets and shoveling off accumulated ice. Interacting with patrons was required at times, including children and families.
