Hi, my name is Carter Cowan.
I am a hardworking and proactive high school junior. I have two years of experience as a lifeguard for the City of Jackson, City of Ione, and the Amador County Recreation Agency, promoting water safety around Amador County. I have also worked as a swim instructor for the City of Jackson and served as a swim coach for the Amador Polar Bears. Additionally, I have worked at Iron Hub Wines since October, 2024 as a barback. My responsibilities include preparing food orders (soup, charcuterie, etc), stocking wine in the tasting room, serving customers, clearing tables, washing/drying glassware, etc.
Balancing athletics, advanced placement classes, work, and college courses has honed my time management and responsibility skills. I have also volunteered for the Every 15 Minutes Program and served as a High School Counselor at Sly Park Science Camp. Currently I am the captain of the Amador Water Polo Team and have been an active member of the Amador High School Student Government for three years. Additionally, I am part of the Amador High Student Environmental, Interact, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes clubs. Together, these factors demonstrate my commitment to community service.
Additionally, I have been accepted to the Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) program and will spend my senior year of High School in Argentina, immersing myself in the language, and culture. As an ambassador for the U.S., I will promote peace and justice around the world. Given today’s global challenges, such programs are more vital than ever, and I am honored to be a part of the change.
Thank you for considering my application!
Best,
Carter Cowan
