I continued my learning and skills development by starting in the ICU/CCU unit at Woodstock hospital. The learning curve was steep but have become proficient in many things such as code response, monitoring and care of the ventilated patient, specialized IV infusions, below the drip chamber medication administration, ACLS certification, cardiac rhythm interpretation and much more.
Worked as a bedside RN on a very hectic 25 bed post surgical unit. For 2 of those years I was the full time charge nurse. Here I learned many skills such as care of the post op patients, advanced wound care, infection control and management, adverse events response and treatment, IV initiation skills and pain management, among many others. I worked collaboratively with the allied health team to ensure our patients had the best possible outcomes.
