As a member of the Metis community it was important for me to join the Indigenous Engagement Committee. Our committee was formed to promote and facilitate the engagement and participation of indigenous peoples in decision-making processes, policies and initiatives that affect their communities. The committee consisted of indigenous representatives, community members and stakeholders who work together to ensure that indigenous perspectives, knowledge, and rights are respected and integrated into various aspects of governance, planning and development.
