  • Responsible for the analysis, assessment and interpretation of legislation administered by the CBSA and information contained in CBSA databases or paper files to identify and verify status of individuals and decide if the person of interest may be in violation of this legislation and require further examination by the CBSA.
  • Responsible for determining the validity of an Immigration warrant and advising and counselling a Peace officer that the person of interest can be arrested and detained on behalf of the CBSA under IRPA and until an Inland Enforcement officer is available.
  • Responsible for verifying, responding and recording law enforcement, departmental officials, other government department and the public’s entitlement to the release and disclosure of confidential CBSA information or refer them to another departmental individual, Federal, Provincial or Municipal government for further assistance.
  • Analyzed internal and external requests for assistance, interpreted the application of legislation administered by the CBSA, examined databases, assessed guidelines, policy and procedure and the circumstances of the call to determine the appropriate course of action. Based on the analysis, made the decision on whether or not a person of interest may be in violation of legislation and required further examination by CBSA Enforcement officer or Intelligence officer.
  • Confirmed the validity of an Immigration warrant to law enforcement across Canada by reviewing all documentation on databases and the file with the information the caller provides. Analyzed the situation and assessed whether or not the circumstances required the dispatch of an Inland Enforcement officer or if a detention order would be applicable.
  • Examined Immigration warrants and Previously Deported Person files received from CBSA enforcement offices and CIC offices across Canada. Determined when a file is included, amended or removed from the CPIC database by interpreting applicable legislation, policies and procedures. Responsible for analyzing databases and the information contained on the paper file to ensure that all law enforcement in Canada and the U.S. have reliable information on the individual of interest.
  • Responsible for analysing and examining files contained in the CBSA National repository on a regular basis. Determined if the quality of the information on file, in databases and on CPIC meet all current criteria to remain on the law enforcement database.
  • Responsible for processing computer generated reports on Immigration files that have been cancelled, executed or removed from CPIC and confirmed the removal of the information from that database to ensure that a person of interest is no longer flagged to the law enforcement community in Canada and the U.S. Returned all relevant information to the local office for appropriate action.
  • Responsible for compiling the information which was collected from tip calls, analyzed the information gathered and prepared the resulting intelligence for dissemination.
