My name is Camilo Losada. I am a dedicated and skilled volunteer Search and Rescue (SAR) member with the Fire Department of Long Beach, CA, serving for three years. I have embraced an adventurous life, driven by a mission of commitment to helping those in need. From currently volunteering for communities and working with autistic children, to working with people experiancing homelessness and the less fortunate. My primary goal is to save and assist as many lives as possible, and I am willing to take significant risks to protect families and individuals.
Coming from an immigrant family that escaped war, I understand the struggles of those seeking safety. I strongly, actively advocate for social and economic justice.
I have spent the past 14 years living on a sailboat, gaining extensive ocean knowledge and maritime experience. I am confident navigating open waters, skilled in sailing, piloting, mooring, navigation, mapping, radio communication, rope handling, and I also do not experience seasickness.
I received specialized training in emergency response, including medical aid, firefighting, search techniques (urban, wilderness, marine), vehicle extrication, and rope rescue
From certifications (ICS 100-700) Towards SAR, I have gained Situational Awareness, Team Coordination, Communication, Responsibility & Accountability, Problem Solving, Empathy & Trauma-Informed Leadership, Mission Planning & Execution I have also gained the knowledge and skill to think clearly under pressure and in high-stakes situations
