Cameron Mellis

Working in aviation and becoming increasingly frustrated using ancient software, I’ve decided to learn to create my own. I'm currently enrolled with Get Coding where I'm learning full stack development HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, React.js, Node.js and more. Within 3 months I've already built my first JavaScript project. Within 6 months I've built an aviation weather app for pilots and dispatchers to consolidate multiple reporting stations onto one fast and easy to use page which I currently use at PAL Airlines.

With the combined effects of the oil price crash and the Covid-19 pandemic on the offshore industry, I left Cougar and joined PAL Airlines. Bringing my consistency and keen eye for detail to a larger, more dynamic global operation. I have safely and efficiently dispatched hundreds of flights, keeping up with the high standard of customer satisfaction.

Pursuing a career in aviation I accepted a position as radio operator managing all communications to aircraft. Consistently performing to the high standard the industry demands, within 9 months I was promoted to flight dispatcher and became part of a team managing logistics in a complex aviation operation. I provided safe transport to and from offshore installations supporting Newfoundland’s oil industry.

Studying full-time in university I was also working as a customer service representative at a busy hospital. Using my problem solving and leadership skills to resolve customer concerns on a daily basis, within 8 months I was promoted to team lead and managed an opening of a new location in downtown St. John's.
