  • Taught children from ages 6-13 how to improve technique and playing skills while playing instruments like guitar, bass, and drums.
  • Helped them to learn how to play as a band, as well as teaching them music theory.
  • Looked after students during free time.
  • Assisted with cleaning up the studio at the end of each day after students had left, including washroom maintenance and taking out the garbage.
  • Accumulated 60 hours of volunteer experience, prior to being asked to work the rest of the summer.

  • Arriving twenty minutes prior to ice time to carry everything needed for the kids lessons, over from storage, as well as having time to go over the game plan for that day.
  • In charge of instructing anywhere from one to eight children at a time, ranging from the ages of 3-12, how to skate.
  • It is not just teaching, but ensuring the kids are having a good time by playing on ice games with them, like red light green light.
  • Teaching anywhere from basic skating skills, to more advanced stuff, to hockey skills and edge work, to just being able to stand up on the ice.
  • Need to be very adaptable as I never know which section of teaching I will be needed for, on any given day; it could be pre-school, learn to skate, or hockey.
  • Always need to have the required equipment and be prepared for whatever group I am assigned.

  • Had to focus on student behaviour, making sure they stayed calm and did not cause any damage to instruments, as I was the only instructor.
