Clearance Diver

Canadian Forces
08.2017 - 08.2022

As a Clearance Diver my main role was to clear explosive ordnance from land and sea using various breathing apparatus up to a max depth of 300ft. Maintaining these apparatuses such as rebreather, surface supplied, and mixed gas systems were part of my daily duties. Operating other equipment such as hyperbaric chambers, various boats, and larger dive tenders (100ft+) were also part of my responsibilities. As a Clearance Diver I also worked as an instructor training new divers, search and rescue technicians, and rescue swimmers in the Canadian Forces. This included supervising multiple teams during night time operations in open water, performing first aid in hyperbaric chambers, and organizing training schedules. I worked in extremely hazardous environments with limited or no visibility often in a confined space for extended periods of time.

Port Inspection Diver

Canadian Forces Reserve
05.2015 - 07.2017

My primary role as a Port Inspection Diver was in the Underwater Engineering department of Fleet Diving Unit Atlantic. I was responsible for organizing boats, tools, equipment, and a dive team to perform ship repairs and inspections up to a max depth of 135ft. Together with a dive team, our tasks involved maintaining ships underwater equipment and carrying out emergency repairs. This involved coordinating teams underwater in an inherently dangerous environment to lift heavy machinery, weld and cut, or inspect for damage.

Responsible for passing sensitive information between ships using appropriate encryption methods and maintaining communications equipment on board Canadian Forces ships.
